Holidays
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, next Thursday, and I am starting to think about some of my favorite Thanksgiving Day foods. Mmmm... My favorite part of eating the turkey is stealing a nibble or two or three of skin when it first comes out of the oven and is fixing to get carved for the table. Mmmm... I also LOVE gravy, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce. I love the jellied kind of cranberry sauce that still looks like the can when you take it out of the can. Mmmm.. Unfortunately, I will not see any of my own family for the holidays this year, but they will be in my heart, and on my mind.
On a lighter note, the very BEST part of Thanksgiving this year is that the KC Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos in the football game that night (I am a Chiefs fan, Brian is a Broncos fan...) It could get ugly! Something else most people may not know about me as far as the holidays go is that I am a bit of a sap. I LOVE Christmas music, and KOSI 101.1 FM radio out here is already playing ALL holiday music, ALL the time. Don't you know I love it??? I love going out at night (semi-dressed up) during the holidays to go to dinner, a holiday party, or maybe a show. I LOVE all the holiday decorations and the lights. Of course, we never have the money to REALLY get everyone something they REALLY deserve for Christmas, but either way I LOVE everything else that goes along with the presents, like candy canes, Christmas cards, music, food, baking cookies, and all the holiday movie favorites like A Christmas Story (where the kid wants a BB gun, but everyone tells him he'll shoot his eye out), National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase, and The Preacher's Wife with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington.
We will have Thanksgiving dinner this year at Brian's parents' house. I do believe both sets of Brian's grandparents will also be there. (He still has all his grandparents, where I only have 1 grandmother surviving.) Konnor and I also have Wed-Fri off from school and work, and Brian will have Thursday and Friday off. Hopefully, we will get some good quality time in together, and some relaxation, too! Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! Enjoy each other and catch some holiday spirit!
